About this deal

Peanuts himself sees it as enjoying time with friends as he sits on the roof of his kennel with four birds or walking in the grass with bare feet or even picking up 'on the first bounce' a piece of fudge dropped by Lucy. Because of the chemotherapy and the fact he could not read or see clearly, he announced his retirement on December 14, 1999. I don’t currently have a dog but I’m teetering distance from a foreshore walk which is nirvana for our all manner of hounds, their owners and dog obsessive voyeurs like me. A poor condition book can still make a good reading copy but is generally not collectible unless the item is very scarce.

She is also happy when she is sitting in front of a birthday cake with 'lots of candles' - six to be precise, which is okay but the more they get, perhaps the less happy she will be! These collector’s editions perfectly recreate the original look and feel of the best-loved Peanuts books—their paper, their ink, even their lamination. In a Very Good - dust jacket (the golden one) w/light rubbing to the front and rear panels, tiny chip to front panel top edge, two tiny closed tears to top edge, one other to the rear panel bottom edge. Happiness and satisfaction isn’t something that you climb up to by acquiring more things and more status and, well, just more.

Schulz's first book and the first title in this series of square-shaped books written and illustrated by Schulz. The key is to grab on to those moments and those things and understand the satisfaction of experiencing them instead of allowing yourself to believe that satisfaction is something you constantly have to be acquiring and working towards.

I guess you might say I've come around to secular humanism, an obligation I believe all humans have to others and the world we live in. A decent copy of the first edition, first printing, the first of these small books featuring the characters of the immortal Peanuts gang. Apparently it’s all to do with the hormone oxytocin which spikes in both human and canine brains when a dog is gazing at it’s owner. I spotted this on my shelves and decided to give it another peruse, just to remind myself what Charlie Brown regarded happiness as being and how it compared to my view!

Before Happiness is a Warm Puppy, Schulz had published only collected “Peanuts” strips; this is the first Peanuts book to appear in a format of original text and illustrations, on colored paper. Schulz who definitely knew what were the real treasuries in life, I found myself assessing the simple things in my life for which I am grateful. I realised quickly and viscerally, as someone handed me my head in my hands to play with, that dogs are just not up there with human children to their parents, however incredible us owners think they are.

No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. One day, I checked it out and to my horror one of the librarians had caught on and erased all of them! Slight wear to corners and edges; slight dustsoiling to edges; front hinge slightly loose; otherwise tight, sound and unmarked in Very Good condition.Read more about the condition Very Good: A book that has been read and does not look new, but is in excellent condition. Schulz describes happiness with simple text and line drawings of the Peanuts kids on yellow and orange paper.

Schulz would have been an independent contractor for the syndicate, unheard of in the 1940s, but the deal fell through. What I love most about the book is that it teaches children that happiness means different things to different people.
